Evaluation / Consultation

At Adolescent Advocates the evaluation process starts with a meeting of client and parent. Though the primary focus is on client, it is essential that we have an understanding of the environment that the client is living in and or developed in. This affords us the opportunity to help both parent and child to develop a means for navigating through the trouble spots and give us, staff at A2, the ability to get a true assessment of all that triggers the acting out behavior which often is a projection of the client's illness. We will review the case with the client and parents during the initial meeting reviewing history and complaint. We take up to two weeks in attendance to evaluate the case when possible and give a complete review of available treatments. The client may stay at A2 if appropriate.

Parents with concerns about their child teen or young adult may need to speak with a professional to explore treatment options. A2 will spend time with or without the child present and review what is available both inpatient, outpatient, schools, mental health facilities, halfway houses, etc. Some parents already have their child in care and want a step down from the present treatment to outpatient care at A2. We will review the profile of the client and look into approaches that can work including a client parent home contract.

We aim to create a "win, win" no matter what it takes. Your son or daughter is our most valuable player.

When members need more support in dealing with the disease of addiction, learning issues, emotional or mental health, we can provide in house care through our Parents/Community meeting, mothers group, and siblings group.

We do evaluate school systems and provide in school support for drug and alcohol interventions as well as emotional support.
