We are a community comprised of a network of individuals and families who are focused on changing their lives by working through negative emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. We create a non-biased environment were entitlement is not acceptable. Our clients are considered teammates, rooting for each other's success and relying on one another and our staff for support.
Parents and families are an important part of our Community. Parents attend family sessions throughout treatment. Our community group is essential to our family program. During these meetings, parents can address their child with the support of the Community. They can learn about mental health issues and gain better language skills to communicate with their child. The Community Meeting will also allow parents to get support from each other.
Before treatment begins, each client starts with an evaluation. The process begins with a meeting of the client and parents with the intake therapist. It is essential that we have an understanding of the environments in which the client was raised and/or which they are currently living. This also helps the staff develop a plan to give the family the means for navigating through trouble spots.
During this time the intake therapist will take time alone with both the client and parents. After speaking individually, the intake therapist will talk with the client and parents together to create an individualized treatment plan that will determine their level of care, treatment schedule, and goals they would like to accomplish throughout treatment.
At this time, we include a review of the client's general health. If issues of concern surface in this review or during the treatment process, the client (if 18 or older) or parent will be advised to set up an appointment with their primary care physician. Adolescent & Young Adult Advocates can also recommend physicians from our collegial network.
